RACHEL teaches the following classes at Element Fitness...

BODYPUMP Fridays @ 9.30am and Sundays @ 10.30am 💪
CYCLE 30 on Monday @ 9.00am 🚴

🔷What made you become an instructor?
My love for fitness, and to interact and with people that are like minded like myself about fitness.

🔷What do you teach?
BodyPump, boxing, cycle, core, SPRINT.

🔷What do you love most about what you do?
Helping people become fitter and stronger, and seeing them progress towards their fitness goals.

🔷Tell us something else about you?
I’m also a massage therapist, beauty therapist and I have an 18 year old son.

🔷What’s something we wouldn’t know about you?
I have a holiday day at Lakes Entrance

Who is getting their workout in before enjoying some sunshine today? 😎

🔹 SUNDAY TIP 🔹
Some types of fat in your body can do more harm to your health than others. Visceral and Epicardial fat sit closer to organs in the body and in high amounts increase your risk of heart, kidney and liver diseases as well as many others.

There is good news though!

When you exercise you burn a higher percentage of this fat than the fat closer to your skin. So by exercising you may be doing more to protect your health than you think!

Make sure you incorporate some moderate to vigorous cardio into your exercise regime to best target fat loss and protect your overall health!

For vigorous cardio we suggest trying our Ski-Erg or our assault bike as these are great HIIT workouts 💦

PT Dwayne taking a member through a warm-up routin

PT Dwayne taking a member through a warm-up routine for the upper body that requires only one tool - a stick. If you want to improve your shoulder mobility, you can't go wrong by using this warm up.

👊Hand Roll - Hold the stick with two hands and roll it forward and backward to loosen your fingers, wrists, elbows, and shoulders.

🙆‍♂️Pass Through - Hold the stick loosely in one hand and use the other to push it to the side. Use a variety of grips for this exercise.

💁‍♀️Scapula Retraction and Protraction - Hold the stick with both hands at hip width in an overhand grip. First rest the stick on the front of your hip. Draw your shoulders all the way up and push them down. Raise the stick in front of you to shoulder height, then push your shoulders forward and pull them back. Finally, raise the stick over your head, push your shoulders up, and pull them back down.

🙋‍♂️High Pull - Widen your grip on the stick and let it hang down in front of you. Shrug your shoulders up, then pull your elbows up so they are rotated forward and the stick touches your sternum.
Rotation - Start in the top position of the high pull where your elbows are angled forward. Rotate at your elbows to bring the stick above your head.

🙅‍♀️Dislocation - Hold the stick in front of your hip with both hands. Bring the stick over and behind your head to rest on your lower back.

Varied drills like these keep your shoulders healthy and mobile. Use this warm up to get ready for your workout and grease the groove in all ranges of motion.
